From my Type 101 course at School of Visual Concepts this Summer, student Mike Curato, created this lovely recipe booklet cover with a typographical illustration of a chef in a toque hat. As a last assignment of expressing type hierarchy this week, each student recreated a food recipe. The cover was an optional task, and Mike shared a copy of his with the entire class. His primary font used in the chef illustration and title is Bookeyed Suzanne, with Sabon as the secondary font. Sweet! Mike is also an accomplished illustrator and has some charming unpublished work on his website, all with great narrative. I especially love the drawing below titled Speranza. Anyone need a good children's book illustrator with typography skills too? |
